Menopausal Mood Swings and Hot Flashes Explored
October 24th, 2009 by admin

It wasn’t until after I had been having hot flashes for a year before I understood what hot flashes actually were. When I was a youngster, I remember seeing my mother fanning herself as she reported having a hot flash. I figured you just felt very warm and that a simple fanning would cure hot flashes.

is this a hot flash?

Instead, for me, hot flashes involve a sudden drenching sweat, that a mere fanning would never help. So, what does a hot flash feel like? Menopausal hot flashes feel like you suddenly lay on a full upper body hot heating pad and you sweat profusely. Even the most simple physical tasks will trigger these hot flash sweats in me. Who would have thought that walking in below freezing winter temps would be drench me in sweat? I use ice packs and lots of cool showers to cool off. Despite those cooling methods, it would be nice to find out how to avoid hot flashes in peri-menopause.
